Ubisoft battle royale game Hyper Scape is shutting down

If you are a Hyper Scape fan, the title Ubisoft Battle Royale launched in 2020, we have some bad news for you: Ubisoft has announced the game will be turned off immediately. While it might not be surprising for players today and ex, we now have confirmation from Ubisoft along with the concrete shutdown date. Apparently, Hyper Scape fans only have a few more months before the game disappears forever.

In the update on his website today, Ubisoft revealed Hyper Scape will be turned off in April 2022. “We have made difficult decisions to end the development of Hyper Scape and close the game on April 28,” explained blog posts. “We set out to make a vertical shooter experience, close and fast and we are very grateful to our community to join us on our trip. We will take the main learning from this game to future products.”

Ubisoft continued to thank the Hyper Scape community because of “passion and dedication” for the game in a brief statement. This is not a surprising announcement, because the Battle of Royale’s game finally felt more like a flash in a pan than a long-term hit.

Indeed, the writing is already on the wall in several ways. If you look at the news section on the Hyper Scape website, the latest news before this announcement was published nine months ago in April 2021. It posted a patch covered for the main renewal of Hyper Scape received and, given the game less than a year at the time, the silence of Ubisoft Maybe in the months that followed it all.

What is wrong? That might be a number of factors. While Hyper Scape does have some interesting aspects for that, the game is a lathekomer to Battle Royale Space. When Ubisoft launched Hyper Scape in 2020, the giant genre of Royale Battle like Fortnite and Apex Legends was established.

Not only Ubisoft was against the established titans, but also launched Hyper Scape into a crowded room. While the Battle of Royale Frenzy seems to have been calm, there is a period of time when everyone tries to launch a title in the genre. For games that worked in a crowded market like that, they had to really stand out from the competition, and Hyper Scape did not succeed in doing it.

In the end, it was a problem “too little, late” for Ubisoft and the title Battle Royale. Even though the company said some aspects of this game would live in the titles, Hyper Scape itself approached the end of the road. Find a game server to be permanently turned off on 28 April 2022.
